About Us

The Elder Justice Center (EJC) is a court program that primarily helps persons age sixty (60) or older who are involved in the court system because of guardianship, criminal, family or other civil matters.  Through educational efforts, EJC also works to help people avoid unnecessary involvement with court matters.

EJC is a member of a local Elder Rights Task Force, spearheaded by the West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging.  As its first project, the Task Force participated in a collaborative effort to develop this web module on the subject of Advance Directives and Advance Planning, with a long-term goal of making it available to the public through all court and clerk’s office websites throughout the state.  Special thanks are extended to Bay Area Legal Service and the Stetson Law Elder Consumer Protection Program.
