JUDICIAL BIOGRAPHY
Judge J. Logan Murphy was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to the Hillsborough County Court in 2021 and elevated to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in 2024.
A native of Sarasota, Judge Murphy graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 2006 and Vanderbilt University Law School in 2009. After law school, he practiced with a large Tampa law firm and clerked for Judge James D. Whittemore on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. While in private practice, Judge Murphy handled appeals and complex civil litigation.
Judge Murphy currently sits on the Florida Appellate Court Rules Committee, chairs the Awards Subcommittee on the Thirteenth Circuit Professionalism Committee, and is an active member of the Federalist Society.
