Court-Appointed Counsel Registry

Section 27.40, Florida Statutes, requires the chief judge of the judicial circuit to compile a list of attorneys in private practice, by category of cases, who are available for appointment when the Public Defender’s Office and the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel are unable to provide representation due to a conflict of interest. This list consists of attorneys in private practice.

The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit is NO LONGER accepting applications for the Biennial Court-Appointed Counsel Registry for fiscal years July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 and July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.  Please check our website in April 2025 for application information for biennial fiscal years July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 and July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Please note that for purposes of court appointments, the clerk’s office has been directed to utilize a randomized court-appointed counsel registry list rather than the alphabetical list posted here in an effort to facilitate an equitable distribution of appointments across all court-appointed registry categories.
