FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TAMPA, Fla. (July 3, 2007) – Log onto the  court’s new website in the 13th Judicial Circuit and it won’t be business as usual because you’ll find the site has been revamped and much improved to provide a window into the justice system.  At first glance, you’ll notice a new look, but there are more capabilities and enhanced features today, plus there’s more to come in the next few months.

The overall look of the site reflects the people the courts serve; you will notice judges, attorneys, staff and citizens.  As such, there are index pages that cater to each group.  Pages are now printer-friendly.  Spanish translation is now available.  The “search” functionality is now easier to find and more comprehensive.  One of the most notable features of efficiencies is for attorneys to secure dates for hearings in the civil and family law divisions by utilizing J-Calendar, which now eliminates the “middle person” and allows the Judicial Assistant to post the information directly.“Our hope is that our new website will be a step towards removing barriers and understanding the courts for that part of our community that surfs the net,” Mike Bridenback, Court Administrator expressed.  Bridenback recognizes that the challenge is to continue to keep it updated with new information now.Angie Smith, Director of Public Information, promises that more information will be seen in the coming months with court programs, such as the Children’s Justice Center and Juvenile Diversionary Programs are today.  “There is a “judge us” section that allows for feedback from the public on how we can better serve the needs of those who visit our website and I look forward to those comments already,” Smith reported.
