LOCAL JUSTICE FILES FLA TV SHOW
REACHES OUT TO SPANISH AUDIENCE TOO

TAMPA, Fla. (January 5, 2006) - Archivos de Justicia FLA (Justice Files FLA) premieres on Univision 62 on January 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. In this first edition of Archivos de Justicia FLA, Maria de Pilar Ortiz will introduce viewers to the subject of Juvenile Drug Court and talk to Judge Jack Espinosa, Jr. and Drug Court Specialist Maritza Ortiz. The audience will also get a chance to learn more about the first Hispanic female judge in Hillsborough County - Judge Vivian Maye. "The timing is right," according to Court Administrator Mike Bridenback, "for us to transition the show to serving this segment of our community, but more importantly our message is more effective when delivered in their language of comfort." "Whether it's the English or Spanish show, it's important that we communicate in a way that our audience is used to; whether it's drama, dialogue with judges or guest experts, the bottom line is to convey pertinent information about the courts that is helpful," according to Angie Smith, who works for the courts and serves as Executive Producer of the show. Executive Producer Carlos Nieves is overwhelmed with the program, "now with this partnership with Univision, we also share a common burden to show the real life in our courts and to do so in our native language will be more effective - much more real." The show hits the airwaves this month due to the partnership with Univision 62. "This innovative and unprecedented project will offer our Hispanic viewers a rare opportunity to see the inner workings of the American judicial system. For many Hispanics, their perception of the judicial system is formed by vastly different experiences from their native countries. Coupled with the complexity of the law, our judicial system remains one of the last great unknowns for Hispanics. Archivos de Justicia FLA will demystify the process and help educate and inform Hispanics." The show will air quarterly and the second show is already in post-production, which will feature family law issues.
