JUDGE WILLIAM FUENTE HONORED BY
FLORIDA COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY

(TAMPA, FLORIDA - 5/6/04) – The Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency honored Circuit Judge William Fuente today, presenting him with the Judicial Distinguished Service Award in a ceremony held at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.

The award, presented annually, is given to a Florida judge who has made a significant contribution during the year. The Council was chartered by the Secretary of State in 1964 as a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high professional standards for criminal justice personnel.

Judge William Fuente has served as circuit judge in Hillsborough County since his appointment in July, 1997. Previously, he was appointed as county judge in 1994. In his 10 years on the bench, he has presided over more than 400 jury trials of all variety of criminal charges, including 3 death penalty trials. The nomination form noted that while his criminal dockets are often crowded, he handles the workload efficiently and fairly, taking into account the scheduling demands of all involved in the court process.

“It is a great honor to have a member of our judiciary honored for their integrity and dedication,” said Chief Judge Manuel Menendez, Jr., who accompanied Judge Fuente in receipt of his award. “Judge Fuente is truly an outstanding public servant of whom we should all be proud.”
