CHIEF JUDGE MENENDEZ ELECTED SECRETARY AT CONFERENCE

(TAMPA, FLORIDA - 7/14/04) - Honing his note taking skills, 13th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Manuel Menendez, Jr. will accept the post of Secretary/Treasurer of the Circuit Judges Conference, where he was elected at the Annual business meeting at Marco Island on June 21, 2004. Traditional duties include recording minutes and serving as custodian of funds. In addition, the post requires him to report to the members of the Conference all actions of the Executive Committee.
The Conference of Circuit Judges is created by Florida Statute to improve the rules and methods of procedure and practice in the courts and to foster and promote educational institutions and seminars for judges. Prior to each legislative session, the Conference reports to the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House recommendations concerning defects in the laws in this state and such amendments or additional legislation as the Conference may deem necessary.

As part of the Conference's leadership team, traditionally the person filling the post of Secretary/Treasurer ascends to the chairmanship over the course of three years.
