The Judge can hold a remote testimony via closed-circuit teleconferencing technology. This allows for the child to be in a secure location without having to enter into a courtroom setting, while the Judge joins via "television" to dispense justice in a "child-friendly" manner without compromising the judicial process.
In this initial stage, the child is interviewed by the state attorney for details of the case in question. In the room are the Public Defender or private attorney, a victim's advocate assistant, and a state atttorney.
In another room, a CJC staff member monitors and videotapes the session.
Here, the child(ren) visit with a parent, when court ordered in family law or dependency cases.
This session is monitored and videotaped from an alternate location.
The Forensic Team gathers to discuss the case at hand.
The CJC Forensic Staff member proceeds to a private room with the child for further questioning.
The team watches the interviewing process via closed-circuit television and are able to communicate with the staff interviewer (with an IFB) without the child hearing.
